Post subject: Teaching to do a question about Quadratic equations..
You know the area of the trapezium (76) and also that it consists of (4x + 3) * x = 4x^2 +3x
Therefore, 4x^2 + 3x = 76 => 4x^2 + 3x - 76 = 0
Now you work this out:
Either use (b +/= root(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a
or the quadratic solver at scicalculator.com (quadsolver.com)
The answer is 4 or -4.75 which is ignored as it can obviously not be a negative.
So x = 4. You can work out the rest of the question like that.
I would strongly recommend learning the formula as it is incredibly important.
